FROM THE TOUCHLINE · BEHIND THE KIT

THE THING I DIDN’T EXPECT WHEN OUR KITS ARRIVED

I spent months thinking about how our kits would look. When they came back, it was the snug, comfortable fit that surprised me most—and players keep saying the same.

When I first started developing the BOX TO BOX training kits, most of my attention was on how they would look.

The colours. The details. The placement of the branding. The way the shirt and shorts worked together as a full kit.

I wanted something that felt different from the generic training gear already out there—something with its own identity that players would genuinely want to wear.

What I wasn’t prepared for was just how good the kits would feel when they came back from the supplier.

Snug in All the Right Ways

The first thing I noticed when I put one on was the fit.

It was snug—but not tight or restrictive. It sat close to the body, moved naturally and had that secure athletic feel you want from a proper football kit.

There was no loose fabric getting in the way and nothing felt heavy. The material was lightweight, breathable and comfortable from the moment I put it on.

Honestly, I was surprised.

You can study fabric samples, measurements and designs for as long as you like, but you never completely know how a kit is going to feel until the finished product arrives and you actually wear it.

That was the moment I realised we hadn’t just created kits that looked good in photos. We had created something that felt genuinely good to play football in.

Then Other Players Started Saying the Same Thing

Of course, I designed the kits—so you could argue that I was always going to be slightly biased.

But once other players started wearing them, the same comments kept coming back.

It wasn’t something we were asking people to say. It was simply the first thing many of them noticed.

Players have worn the kits through training sessions, matches and full 90 minutes, and the feedback has remained incredibly consistent: they feel lightweight, breathable and comfortable, while still giving you that fitted football look.

That response has become one of the things I’m most proud of.

A strong design might make someone notice a kit, but comfort is what makes them want to keep wearing it.

The Same Feel. Two Completely New Looks.

That fit and feel now carries into our two newest BOX TO BOX releases.

RETRO CHARACTER. MODERN PERFORMANCE.

RETRO: SAMBA BLUE

They are two very different-looking kits, but both are built around the same principle:

A football kit should feel every bit as good as it looks.

That may not have been the part I expected to impress me most when our first kits arrived—but after hearing the same reaction from player after player, it has become a defining part of what BOX TO BOX is all about.
